Hardcore Til I Die Booty Shorts

Our friends over at Rave Ready have some awesome things going: rave clothing for the EDM at heart. They have a great niche market and do really well for what they do. From a printers perspective, they are always trying new and crazy things, really wanting to push the boundaries and putting us printers to the test by pushing the limits of our knowledge at all times.

This last job they wanted to print Booty Shorts...not too crazy of a job but definitely not as simple as a Tshirt print. We helped them layout their artwork so that we split the design they had into 2 separate parts so that none of the artwork went over top of the middle seam (since we all know that would just lead to inconsistencies in the print). We also made sure to get a 100% cotton short so that we could use a Pro Discharge White ink, making it easy to print over such a non-flat surface.

The discharge ink bleaches out the dyes in the existing garment, leaving the natural garment color and making the print very smooth with a little to no hand feel. Because the discharge is a waterbased ink, it also is very smooth with printing over uneven surfaces, over seams/zippers but still keeping the print smooth without ink getting all gunked up.

The shorts turned out pretty rad, and best of all, they were stoked and sold out quickly. (must have been the Coachella crowd who bought them out).

Freshwata All Over Printing

Freshwata are tastemakers. Aside from their design and branding side of their business, they also focus on building and developing style for exhibits and social events. Freshwata were doing an event in San Diego and hit us up to help them with a very large and time consuming project: All Over Printing. This style of printing is usually done as a Dye Sublimiation process, but given that Freshwata wanted to have a few hundred of these done, it was cheaper and better for us to run these as standard discharge screen printing.

The shirts were standard Anvil 980 Fashion Fit tees. We then used a super large 160 mesh screen (roughly 58"x54" outside dimension) with Pro Discharge White discharge ink (mixed with the poly activator). This produced a bright white print while keeping the hand and feel of the ink very soft on the shirt AND making the print over the seams look much better than a standard plastisol ink would. (this is because the viscosity of this ink makes it easier to go over uneven areas, making them look less inconsistent and much cleaner than a heavier and thicker oil based ink would.)

Overall, printing AOP prints is extremely difficult, time consuming and costly but the overall final product is well worth all the work it takes to get the job finished. Even though we spend 16 straight hours on this job (and worked well into the morning on these), the result turned out well and we were very happy with the end result.

Vannen Watches are next level watches!

Vannen Watches are what high end watches are to regular people: something extraordinary. They also collab with world renowned artists such as Bad Religion, Descendants, and Christopher Bettig to create unique limited edition watches They hit us up to do some quick merch for a trade show they were joining, and we agreed. The prints were discharge prints on black fashion fit Tshirts. And turned out amazingly!  These are discharge inks that are soft to the touch and great to use on dark garments. Looking forward to the next one, gentleman!

M.A.R.S. All over printed Tee

The guys at M.A.R.S. clothing are cutting edge. They always are striving for doing something different and unique to stand out. They asked us to print an allover Tshirt for them after the shirt is already made. (since usually all over prints happen before the Tshirt is sewn together).

To achieve this, we constructed a very large platen and burned a very large screen. Then we placed the shirt on the table, used a gold discharge ink and printed the entire shirt over, even onto the pallet...just had to clean it off between every shirt. Turned out really good. Great job guys!!
