Foundation For A Better Life Tote Bag Finishing

After we did all the printing for the FBL Tote Bag Printing, we were asked to custom tag, fold and bag each individual bag. Seems easy when its just a few, but with 5000 pieces its a feat that is more difficult than meets the eye.

First, we had to print each of the cards with "Gratitude" on them, and then punch a smaller-than-normal 3/16th hole in each. From there, we decided to use silver metallic twist ties to attach the tags, to make them look like Christmas gifts.

And finally, after each was tagged, folding and bagging each one was something straight out of China. We had a great time, with all of us assembly line style folding each bag, sometimes competing to see which team could fold stacks of 100 faster. (we were doing them in 4 minutes per 100). This was definitely one of these very self fulfilling jobs that makes you feel good once its all completed! With this job, we filled the world with more Gratitude! :)

MySpace Custom Halloween Masks

This last Halloween, we were asked by the people at MySpace Music to help with with a very customize project: Custom Printed and Cut Halloween Masks for one of their artists, Mellowhigh. Mellowhigh is a hip hop group composed of members of Odd Future, and they needed custom made masks for their record release party at the Henry Fonda Theater. What better people to take on such a task as Print Renegades??

Firstly we hand printed these masks using high quality waterbased Permaset inks on very durable 140# coverstock French Paper. The artwork was a little perspective askew, so was difficult to print, .

From there we made our own custom die (as you can see, its a little homemade) and hand punched out every one of these masks. From there, hot glue held on the elastic backing (staples are cheap and dangerous), and after making a few hundred of these, they turned out pretty amazingly. That just made us feel very confident about us taking on random odd jobs, and being able to make it better than we thought.

Gangi Vinyl Record Printing

Our friends with the band Gangi asked us to help them with yet another specialized project they had in mind. Since here at Print Renegades, we specialize in taking on random and unique projects, we were all in with helping them out with anything they had in mind.

They are releasing their new album and they are only making Vinyl records with this VERY limited edition release. Thing is that they only had enough songs for 3 sides of a double-record release, so they told the vinyl record manufacturer to keep the 4th side of one of the records completely blank (free of grooves).

From there, they asked us if we would be willing to screen print their logo onto the blank side of the record so that could ask as the front cover of the record. We were happy to help them out. We had to cut a larger opening into each of the cardboard sleeves, and then it was as simple as burning a high mesh screen, and then printing onto each of the 250 vinyl records.

For this, we used a very specialized Nazdar 9700 Series Ink that is specifically made for printing on plastic and vinyl. Although this ink dries with air, it is very volatile and is one of the only inks that we use that is somewhat toxic. Still, we make sure to take all precautions to protect ourselves and the systems around us.

The records turned out amazing, and the Gangi boys were very happy with their final product. It definitely correlated with the look and feel that they were going for with this release. You can purchase one of these vinyl records HERE.

Foundation For A Better Life Tote Bags

Every year before the holidays, big corporations contact us to help them produce Christmas gifts for their clients. Sometimes its commercial production companies, Actors or this year, Foundation for a Better Life. These guys are an amazing non profit foundation that has thousands of billboards across America with motivational quotes on them, reminding us all what is really important.

Because of all the media and billboard space FBL receives during the year, they definitely have a LOT of people to thank...just around 5000 to be exact. That is how many tote bags we produced for them this year, and it was very tedious but exciting to be able to help them.

Because of the quantity that we ordered, the totes came to our shop on a pallet, and we printed each one of them with a 2 color print. We also were hired to tag and individually fold/ship each one as well (those photos to come...).

Awaken The Empire Metallic Prints

The guys at Awaken The Empire are doing something new. Their sound fusing of Alternative Rock and Electronic Noise is avant garde, and they are ready for a stadium seat of live shows!! Look out for the new release by Awaken The Empire, single out now!!
Damien called us, specifically requested something "different, on black shirts, that would turn heads". We showed them some samples of our metallic prints, and they loved it. Silver Metallic printing (specifically on dark garments) really brings out a semi mechanical yet elegant feel. Something that is definitely unique, and very recognizable. Put on your shades, here comes the bright light!

Custom Made Sewn Business Cards

At Print Renegades, we strive for uniqueness and individuality. Because we are an artist run print shop, we stand out from other print shops because of how we approach jobs, our outlook on what the purpose of screen printing is, and how we take on every single job as if it was our very own.

For this, we love to be able to show people how we are unique, and how it is down to our core to be different. For this, we dont short cut making our promotional materials, but we spend time and inject love into each and every business card that we make.

Because we love to recycle, we take old printed Tshirts that were not using any longer and cut them up, then sew them onto the backs of our hand printed business cards, adding a flavor like no other. We dare you to have us give you a business card in person, and for you not to go "Wow, what is this??" like everyone else does.
