Hardcore Til I Die Booty Shorts

Our friends over at Rave Ready have some awesome things going: rave clothing for the EDM at heart. They have a great niche market and do really well for what they do. From a printers perspective, they are always trying new and crazy things, really wanting to push the boundaries and putting us printers to the test by pushing the limits of our knowledge at all times.

This last job they wanted to print Booty Shorts...not too crazy of a job but definitely not as simple as a Tshirt print. We helped them layout their artwork so that we split the design they had into 2 separate parts so that none of the artwork went over top of the middle seam (since we all know that would just lead to inconsistencies in the print). We also made sure to get a 100% cotton short so that we could use a Pro Discharge White ink, making it easy to print over such a non-flat surface.

The discharge ink bleaches out the dyes in the existing garment, leaving the natural garment color and making the print very smooth with a little to no hand feel. Because the discharge is a waterbased ink, it also is very smooth with printing over uneven surfaces, over seams/zippers but still keeping the print smooth without ink getting all gunked up.

The shorts turned out pretty rad, and best of all, they were stoked and sold out quickly. (must have been the Coachella crowd who bought them out).

Tritonal Coroplast Custom Sign Printing

Complete Control Management hit us up for a very specialized project for one of their DJ artists Tritonal, Corrugated plastic (Coroplast) printing with a twist. Normally when we print on Coroplast, its fairly straight forward. (square shaped signs, simple one color prints, usually ends up hanging in the window or on the front lawn of a business.). These signs were unique. Specially printed, customized shape, different colors, and a very tight registration process to get them properly lined up before cutting.

This job prob took us half a day just to think about how to print and register them properly. (mainly because we had to print them before cutting mainly because of the full bleed of the signs. BUT if we printed the front and backs off registration, when cut out they wouldn't line up).

Printing was done with a highly specialized Epoxy based Nazdar ink, made for plastics. Once printed, we cut a stencil out of wood of the final triangle design, to use as the template to cut out the full run of 100 pieces. This was done very delicately (given that this plastic cuts like butter), but were cut out from the outside AND inside pieces, leaving a doughnut-shaped triangle sign.

We are pretty happy how these signs turned out, at the quality that the final product was. Now lets just hope that no one gets their eye poked out at a show by the corner of one of those things as it gets flung across the crowd! :)

DamnSon! Custom Printed Shipping Boxes

Most times, smaller apparel brands think that its much to expensive to have their own customized boxes printed up..."This is something that Nordstrom or Nike does, but not my small brand" they think. They are rashly mistaken.

The guys over at DamnSon! have a really great thing going. Based out of Salt Lake City, they run their music and art website promoting new acts with their keenly amiable phrase "Do What You Love". Print Renegades has been doing their apparel for a year or so now, and they really wanted to seem more professional in their presentation of sold merchandise that got shipped out to their clients. Enter custom shipping boxes.

These boxes were printed using a soft waterbased ink. Although the boxes are slightly large in size, the reason why its not very costly is because we are able to flat print them as a single color print, making it simple and easy for us to print, then when the box is folded up, each panel looks like it was separately printed. Professional and classy, yet inexpensive and affordable for those who think this isn't budget-friendly for them to do.

Drop The Beatz Neon Crop Tops

Drop the Beatz is an Electronic Dance Music site dedicated to bringing you the best news, newest music, and EDM music reviews that are out there. Matt, who runs the site, is a great guy and has been ordering these crop tops from us for the last few years. Good to see that the crop top business is good!

He uses solely American Apparel Neon Crop Tops, and we print these simple one color prints using supersoft Nazdar Waterbased Inks. We love return clients, cause that means that our high quailty printing and apparel that we use was recognized by all the people that bought them, and word of mouth travels fast about that!

Gangi Vinyl Record Printing

Our friends with the band Gangi asked us to help them with yet another specialized project they had in mind. Since here at Print Renegades, we specialize in taking on random and unique projects, we were all in with helping them out with anything they had in mind.

They are releasing their new album and they are only making Vinyl records with this VERY limited edition release. Thing is that they only had enough songs for 3 sides of a double-record release, so they told the vinyl record manufacturer to keep the 4th side of one of the records completely blank (free of grooves).

From there, they asked us if we would be willing to screen print their logo onto the blank side of the record so that could ask as the front cover of the record. We were happy to help them out. We had to cut a larger opening into each of the cardboard sleeves, and then it was as simple as burning a high mesh screen, and then printing onto each of the 250 vinyl records.

For this, we used a very specialized Nazdar 9700 Series Ink that is specifically made for printing on plastic and vinyl. Although this ink dries with air, it is very volatile and is one of the only inks that we use that is somewhat toxic. Still, we make sure to take all precautions to protect ourselves and the systems around us.

The records turned out amazing, and the Gangi boys were very happy with their final product. It definitely correlated with the look and feel that they were going for with this release. You can purchase one of these vinyl records HERE.
